- So recently a very old post of mine involving a drawing of a whale blew up on 9Gag (for which I was uncredited but that’s to be expected) and I was looking through the comments and there was the usual shit that follows that post including some permutation of “he looks like an Indian David Tennant” and “this needs to be a meme!”
- The latter response was met with several resounding “no”s for which I am very thankful but the people saying that were lambasted rather quickly but like… the only thing that the people pushing for a meme could do was speak in other memes and catchphrases? Like “you must be new here” or “GTFO n00b”
- Other people were looking at my facial expression at the end (exaggeratedly sad) and were confused
- Because they couldn’t figure out what type of face it was
- Because there isn’t already a meme of it
- They were like “Is it a ‘close enough’ face?”
- “A ‘fuck yeah’ face?”
- “Maybe a ‘me gusta’ face!”
- One guy was like “uh I think he’s just supposed to be sad”
- “No his mouth almost looks like the original rageface”
- You guys the internet is robbing these people of the ability to communicate or even form a sense of pathos
- Everybody always talks about 1984 being a cautionary tale with (among its other themes) the concept of newspeak
- It figures that it’s finding its legs on Reddit of all places
holy shit
